DIGITAL LITERACY

Literacy Connection is offering language and translation assistance to community members who sign up to take the Northstar Digital Literacy online program through the Henderson County Public Library. This program is open to adults or youth who have current HCPL library cards and register for the program through the library. Those participating in the program who need language assistance may schedule times to take the online class at the Literacy Connection office where language assistance will be provided. There is the option to obtain a Digital Literacy Certificate at the end of the program.

Senior Digital Literacy

In partnership with several assisted living facilities in Henderson County, Literacy Connection offers a Digital Literacy course to help seniors navigate and understand today's technology. This course helps participants overcome isolation that stems from a lack of understanding modern technology.

Topics include:

• Healthcare Access Points

• Setting up Email

• Navigating the internet

• On-line Purchases

• Using your smartphone, tablet or laptop

• Accessing Healthcare Information

• Risks and Scams

Employee Digital Literacy

In Digital Literacy, students will:

• Learn to set up an email account

• Learn how to use the internet

• Learn how to access their healthcare information

• Learn how to use smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers
